The Challenge
The utility generated large volumes of performance data across grid operations, asset management, maintenance, field services, metering, customer operations, and other functions.
However, different departments relied on separate systems and reporting processes. Leadership often received individual reports rather than a consistent enterprise-wide view of operational performance.
KPI definitions also varied between teams. Similar measures could be calculated using different data sources, reporting periods, or business rules, making cross-functional comparisons difficult.

More than 80 priority performance KPIs were identified and standardised across grid, asset, maintenance, field, customer, and operational functions.
Information from 30+ utility and enterprise systems was integrated into structured analytical datasets. Validation and transformation controls helped improve consistency before information reached reporting environments.
KGS developed more than 20 interactive dashboards tailored to executive, regional, and operational stakeholder requirements. Executive dashboards provided consolidated visibility into enterprise performance, while functional dashboards enabled authorised teams to analyse specific operational measures in greater detail.
Drill-down capabilities allowed stakeholders to investigate performance by region, asset type, service area, operational process, reporting period, and other relevant dimensions. Automated data refresh and reporting workflows reduced repetitive report preparation and provided teams with more timely access to performance information.
